]]> Over the summer months I have traveled throughout Ontario preaching camps and church services. Both I enjoy! There is a fresh hunger for God that needs to be feed and fuelled by those of us in leadership. The resurgence of worship is fantastic but cannot replace our love for the Word of God, spoken or read. We cannot simply be in love with worship and not the Word.

Two sentences now burned in my heart, from two men during altar conversations, “I have been in the church for thirty years and this is my first time at the altar.” The other, “This is the first time in months, that someone has prayed for me in tongues.” I know I’m old and have been in ministry for decades and things change. I get it! But the need for altar calls and Holy Spirit are still an absolute for today.

Remember it’s all about sustainable development. We create business opportunities that will be in place for years to come. The fishing boats, hair salon, sewing centres, laundry mat, vegetable gardens benefit the workers and the patrons. The houses we purchase serve a two-fold purpose; a home for the Pastor, his/her family and congregation. Think about it, people are coming hearing the Gospel, getting saved, baptized and discipled. They now have a local pastor and a church where their families can come and grow in their faith. Pretty amazing and you’re a part of it!

For the past three years, as an interpreter, I have had the privilege of working alongside Reapers Executive Director, Chuck Price. I have been an eye witness of the work performed every place Reapers laboured.
Reapers in the Rain has been working in Cuba for seven years providing relief to the hard economic situation of the Cuban Church. Our country is full of restrictions and limitations regarding the Church. However, despite the difficulties, Reapers has provided aid amid the problems. Reapers has invested in many different building projects, house-church purchases, provided top-quality Bible teaching and leadership development. Reapers also provided sustainable development in the purchase of a fishing boat, establishment of sewing centres, and a hairdressing salon. The Cuban Church is so grateful for its work. ]]> Last October we hosted our third one-day Men’s Conference in Eastern Ontario with over 130 men in attendance including a dozen pastors. My job was easy as Pastor Billy Richards from Church on the Queensway preached and Dawson Phillips led worship.
The luncheon was crazy with hamburgers the size of my fist, homemade cookies and coffee by the drum. There was no charge for the day thanks to Church on the Queensway, Calvary Cornerstone Church, and Easthill Outdoors. We did receive a Missions offering for Reapers raising $2,200 for our work in Cuba! The altar appeals were often and well attended. The
best part of the day was anointing and praying for every man in the building. I love to be in a room filled with men worshipping. We look forward to being back in Gananoque next October for another great day.

]]> Because of what so many do for Reapers, we have the awesome privilege and incredible joy of working alongside other Ministries to accomplish what God has asked them to do. Again, this year we provided
clothes, blankets and backpack survival kits to Souls for Christ Ministries, who work on the streets and in the shelters of Toronto. Also, Reapers provided socks for students along with clothes and gifts for mom’s that Heart to Heart Ministry distributed in Flemingdon Park. With your help Reapers purchased gift bags and 23 turkeys to feed 400 people, donated clothes and toys to the Church in Regent Park for their Christmas outreach events.

We co-hosted a Christmas dinner with Family Worship Centre in Courtice for 130 from Oshawa South. Provided a full course turkey dinner catered by Divine Dining, toys for the kids and a selection of warm clothes for the moms. Plus, a gift card and a take home Christmas hamper donated by Jason Adams Reality Team. The highlight for me is not only to share Jesus but to show the love of Jesus. Thanks to all those who worked so hard to bless hundreds this Christmas. We are better together!

]]> I no longer keep track of how many trips, or how many teams, or how many months we have spent in Cuba over the past 6 years. I do know my last trip was in November and I will return in January and March to continue our work. It’s not a hardship to spend time with people that
love the Word and love to worship. What a blessing to have the items from the shipped container in the hands of those who will bless thousands. We
have five building projects, at various stages, on the go. Our goal is to
wrap up these projects by the end of 2020, as we continue to train
leaders, purchase properties for house churches and create businesses
to sustain the work.

One of the Pastors we work with was accused of a crime he did not
commit, and sent to jail. He is scheduled to be released soon but while
in jail he has led many to Christ, held a 4 a.m. water baptismal, and
started a Bible study. He has been granted a work pass to help in the
local hospital which allows him to pray for the sick and the staff. He is
mentoring another man to take over the ministry upon his release. The
Assemblies of God churches in his region receive an offering once a
month to bless his wife and church. Wow!

]]> With your help Reapers continues to buy and build houses in Cuba for the dual purpose of parsonage and sanctuary. Most of our work is in the regions of Matanzas, Santa Cruz del Norte and Havana. We purchased paint, windows, doors, brick, rebar and roofing materials and get’er done.
One of Reapers most rewarding purchases in 2018 was the property in Paula. Two houses on a beautiful piece of property with fruit trees that backs onto the river and is located on a main road. One house used for the church and the other for the pastor. Prior to this, for six years, the church held services in the forest under a tree.
Our goal in 2019 is to invest time and money developing a camp property purchased by the Cuban Assemblies of God. This property will be a blessing to hundreds of families a year. In January Reapers will open its first Hair Salon, providing income for a family, service to the community and give opportunity to share faith.
For me personally, my favourite part and highlight remain the church services and pastors conferences. There is such a hunger for God!
